In The Desert…

Welcome to BitterDark, a new site where I’ll be posting themes for WordPress and other open source applications. I’ll also be posting desktop themes for non-Windows systems. I’ve always been in touch with my dark side. I’m afraid it’s not always attractive: brooding, melancholy - a bit like Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights.
I’ll have pages of music, videos, lyrics, and images; anything that touches the abyss. I do have many accounts on other sites where I post similar material, but I wanted to gather it all into one dark, lonely, sweet site where fellow sojourners may find shelter, however fleeting.
Check back in a few days for the first themes, including the theme of this site.
While homeless in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida almost 25 years ago, I spent much of my time in the library. I discovered that Stephen Crane, author of The Red Badge of Courage, also wrote poetry. This was one of my favorites. Let me know if you feel it.
THE BLACK RIDERS
and Other Lines
by Stephen Crane
[1895]
III
In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, “Is it good, friend?”
“It is bitter - bitter,” he answered;
“But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart.”
